She will talk about the importance of elements and principles of art and how those elements can work with the intuitive process. She will also ask participants to discuss what they’d like out of their work, what their “intention” might be. The class will also discuss various materials that can be used for abstract mark-making, both traditional and nontraditional. Karen will have finished pieces on display as well as unfinished work to show her abstract work in progress. She will share her inspiration and her thinking about her process, talk briefly about the importance of elements and principles of art and how that can work with the intuitive process. She will ask participants what they’d like out of their work and what their “intention” might be. She will also discuss various materials that can be used for abstract mark-making, both traditional and nontraditional. She’ll bring all of the above together with a short demo and then have everyone begin their own painting. In the afternoon, Participants will begin painting their own abstract piece. Karen will help on an individual basis, answering questions or brainstorming on possible directions to go, using formal elements/principles of art as a guide.
