LAA Plein Air Painters Schedule
Oct 2 – Seventh Generation Farm, 1536 Courtesy Rd., Louisville Where S. Boulder Rd. meets Hwy 42, drive a short distance south on 42 and turn east into the farm. So much fun fall stuff to paint! Pumpkin patch, hay bales, farm buildings, silo, farm animals, tractor and other farm equipment, fall produce to buy. And close to home for most.
Oct 16 – East Boulder Community Center, 5660 Sioux Drive, Boulder From Louisville, drive west on S. Boulder Rd. After you cross Cherryvale Rd., watch for a sign on your right at 55th St. and turn right there. Follow 55th for about ½ mile until you see the parking lots on the north side of the community center. Lots to paint: a lake with beautiful long views of the front range, trails nearby with a footbridge, hikers, dogs, a dog park on the southwest corner of the park, sometimes boats on the lake, grazing horses in adjacent fields. On the south side is a shaded patio with tables and chairs. Not sure if center is open to public for restroom use.
Oct 30 – Jane Elvins’ home, 4345 Ludlow St., Boulder Our final meeting of the season will be show and tell, hors d’oeuvres and drinks in the back yard. From the intersection of Broadway and Table Mesa Dr., go south on Broadway for about a mile to the stoplight intersection at Broadway and Greenbriar. Turn right on Greenbriar, then another immediate right onto Toedtli, and an immediate left onto Ludlow. 4345 is near the end of the street on the right side. Look for house with two large maples in the front yard and a red Subaru in the driveway. Sunset is at 6:00, so let’s start around 4:30. Please bring an appetizer to share and 2 of your favorite paintings from the 2020 season. Drinks will be provided.
Oct 9 – Golden Ponds Nature Area, 2651 3rd Ave., Longmont From the intersection of Hover Rd. and CO 119, drive north on Hover past the County Fairgrounds to 3rd Ave, and turn left (west). At the end of the road is the nature area. There is a parking lot, but if full, park along 3rd Ave. There are the ponds, water birds and even a pelican, great mountain views, a paved path around the ponds, nice bathrooms.
Oct 23 – Pella Crossing, Hygiene From CO 119, exit at Monarch Rd. and go west until it crosses N. 71st St. Follow N. 71st as it curves around to the northeast and crosses N. 73rd. N. 73rd curves around to the northeast past Lagerman Reservoir and becomes N. 75th. Stay on this as it crosses Nelson Rd. and St. Vrain Rd., then watch for Pella Crossing on your right. It is a wetlands habitat for many species of mammals, amphibians, birds and fish. On site are picnic tables, shelters, a parking lot and restrooms. A short distance north of Pella Crossing is the tiny village of Hygiene with its Crane Hollow Café which appears on the internet to be closed but would still be interesting to paint along with the Purple Door Market. .
