![]() Welcome to March! There are so many exciting opportunities for members of the association that are coming up. LAA provides so many events for our members. For one, our workshops. We offer high quality artist instructors that we vet before contracting with them so you can grow in your art, no matter what level you are at. We also survey our members to determine the medium they work in and the type of workshops they would like to see. Our workshop prices are very competitive and lower than many workshops of this caliber. For example, we heard from you that you were interested in exploring mixed media collage. You saw a demonstration last month by Mary Morrison, showing us a variety of mixed media methods. Donna Flebbe's Workshop, Mixed Media Collage, will teach you many of those techniques and more. Sign up online now to get your space as we have opened it up to the general public. Donna will provide a fun-filled, creative 3 days to explore a mixture of collage methods! Don't forget to use your coupon code for members when you register to get your members' discount. LAA2018. We also have the Youth Art Show coming up in March. This is a valuable service we offer to the young artists in our community and family members of LAA members to have an opportunity to shine. The entry form is on our site, under shows. The application is due by Feb. 24. There is also a need for volunteers to help with hanging, reception and accepting student work. I have helped out with this and was so touched and impressed with the work of these young people. Come join us! And of course, there is our Spring Member Show. I have a story to tell about my first show I entered. My art instructor encouraged me to enter my work. Of course, I was hesitant. Most artists I know don't give themselves enough credit for their artistic endeavors. I finally succumbed and have entered every show since. It's a great experience, showing your work, maybe selling, maybe winning an award. And in the end, what you don't sell is now framed and ready for your walls! I encourage you all to enter the show for an enjoyable experience. Be sure to bookmark our website, louisvilleart.org as we will be adding to it and you won't want to miss a thing! I see great developments in the year 2018 for the Louisville Art Association, and we want all of you to join us on this exciting journey! - Ann Comments are closed.
