Art Marketing Tip from Eric Rhodes—publisher of Plein Air Magazine
As related by Jane Evans, former LAA Board Member In April LAA members attended the National Plein Air Convention in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Each morning Eric Rhodes, publisher of Plein Air magazine, held an art marketing boot camp featuring agents, gallery owners, collectors etc. I'd like to share one of the points Eric made. Eric and fellow speakers talked about getting your work out there. We at LAA are so fortunate to have the Art in Public Places program that helps us do exactly that. Eric shared another opportunity that he stressed highly: entering multiple shows—all kinds of shows, especially juried shows. Eric pointed out that getting into a juried show boosts not only your visibility in the art world, but it heightens your credibility. It doesn’t matter if you win or not, but the fact that your work is judged against other artists and GOT IN! We at LAA are fortunate to have our very own National Juried Show, which is just about to open for entries. To enter the National Fine Art Show, look for an announcement very soon via email and also on our home page. Enter through the Call For Entries website (CAFE). The entries are reviewed by a judge who does not see the name of the artist when jurying or judging. The judge does not know if you are from Alaska or right here in Boulder County. The judge is simply looking for the best submitted pieces. SOOOOO, get your best work ready and enter our very own show. How lucky we are to have it right here! Don't wait...enter your work!
