In this dabbler, we will be learning the basic skills needed to create all the distinctive features of manga/anime characters; enlarged/distinct features including the characteristic large expressive eyes and tons of shiny hair. You will also be introduced to Kenna's unique take on it - from starting sketch to coloring with alcohol markers as a finishing touch.
January 19—Creating Dramatic Textured Paintings using Watercolor and Acrylic Gesso Class Over!
Saturday January 19, 2019, 11am-2pm *Note the time change! This dabbler starts two hours later than most of our dabblers.
We begin with a gesso texture applied with a trowel-shaped palette knife on illustration board. When the gesso dries, diluted watercolors are poured over the surface. Then diluted gesso is poured on the painting, followed by more watercolor. The process is repeated until the painting is finished.
This is a wonderful technique for creating dramatic water effects, changing weather, trees, etc…or just to create a beautiful abstract.

February 23--Introduction to Art on the iPad Class Over!
Saturday February 23, 2019, 9am-12pm
with Helen Harrison
If you always wanted to use your iPad to draw and paint, but it seemed too overwhelming, this is the class for you!
Learn how to use your iPad to make original art or to use as a supplement to your traditional medium. We will concentrate on the use of the Procreate App combined with the Apple Pencil. At the end of this Dabbler, you should be comfortable with painting in Procreate and be able to import sketches and photos into the app.
