Helen taught this drawing technique in the Drawing Study Group and in this Dabbler will give you hands-on help in creating a beautiful animal portrait. There's nothing new about drawing with black & white charcoal on toned paper, but there are some secrets to doing with maximum impact and control. Supplies: *A piece of medium-value tan paper, preferably Stonehenge Legion in the color "Kraft," approximately 11 x 14. A smaller size makes it harder to draw details and larger will mean you won't have time to finish your drawing. Stonehenge paper comes in sheets, rolls, and pads. Click to go to Amazon to order a pad of paper or go to Jerry's Artarama by clicking here. *soft Vine charcoal in a thin to medium thickness *2-B charcoal pencil *white Charcoal Pencil *kneaded eraser *white plastic eraser pen eraser Exacto knife with new blade (#6) to sharpen pencils and shape eraser *Chamois Paper towel (shop towels or VIVA) *Starred Supplies are available for $15. Please contact Helen if you want to purchase, so the correct amount will be on hand. Supplies aren't available a la carte, just as "kits" Helen will supply charcoal dust, fixative, and paper towels. (also plastic sheeting for the floors) |
