By greggl | May 21, 2008
It’s Time for The Tactile and Art Challenge Show!
The Louisville Art Association (LAA) for the 16th year is sponsoring the Tactile and Art Challenge Show to highlight touchable art and art by artists with disabilities. The show will be on display at the Louisville Center for the Arts at 801 Grant Avenue, in Memory Square Park, Louisville, from May 24 through June 1.
According to Leslie Maya-Charles, co-chairperson of the show, over 140 pieces of art will be on display this year. "We have metal sculpture, mixed media, fiber and wood for the Tactile show, and watercolor, acrylic and more for the Art Challenge part of the show." Some of the artists are first time exhibitors, while others are national award winners, says Maya-Charles.
Judges for the show will be Carolyn Markham, a past president of the LAA and currently a member of the LAA Board; David Sumrak, Director of Marketing for H.W. Home; and Greg Glasgow, entertainment editor for the Boulder Daily Camera.
There will be a total of $1000 in awards given on the night of the opening.
"Opening night will be a fun and exciting evening with live music and food to compliment the art," she added. "And the show is free and open to the public."
